How can living with pain be a blessing? How can we find God through trauma? How can we learn to lean on God’s promises? How do we begin the process of forgiving even when we have been unjustly wronged? These topics and more will be discussed this coming April at our Women’s Gathering: But God.
On Friday evening, we’ll gather at Bay Leaf Baptist Church and hear from our main speaker, Vaneetha Risner. Vaneetha will challenge and encourage us as she shares God’s hand of mercy evidenced throughout her story of loss and brokenness. On Saturday morning, we’ll continue the excitement by meeting in smaller groups at various host homes.

Vaneetha Risner writes and speaks about finding hope in suffering. Her new Bible study, Desperate for Hope: Questions We Ask God in Suffering, Loss, and Longing as well as her memoir, Walking Through Fire, encourage readers to turn to Christ in their pain. Her story includes childhood bullying, losing an infant son, developing post-polio syndrome, and going through an unwanted divorce.
Vaneetha writes at her website, vaneetha.com and is a regular contributor to Desiring God, and has been featured on Family Life Today, Joni & Friends, and Christianity Today. Vaneetha and her husband Joel live in Raleigh, NC where she is obsessed with London Fog lattes, dark chocolate, and colorful office supplies.

Then, when you arrive on Friday evening, you’ll meet your host for Saturday’s activities. This will be a wonderful time to get to know your home’s host and group (as well as check to make sure you have the right directions). What if I bring a visitor? Where would they go on Saturday?
